Technical - Bracken (Pteridium Aquilinum)

The Problem
This invasive plant produces a dense canopy of fronds, blocking out the light to other plants and producing harmful chemicals.

Successful mechanical control is best carried out in June/July when maximum withdrawal of energy is taking place from the rhizome.

The 'Brackenbruiser' roller provides the exact amount of force to produce small bruises on the plant stem. This allows sap to pass up from the Rhizome and in effect bleed.

Growth the following year is reduced as the plant is unable to pass nutrients to the root and rhizome. Grasses and other plants emerge supporting a variety of butterflies and insects. A choice of management systems can now be used to provide better grazing for animals, or the maintenance of balanced ecological areas.
